Bass lessons are a great way to learn an instrument that serves as the foundation of all great bands! At Sing Omaha Studios, we strive to make the learning process engaging and fun for our students! We follow a curriculum that teaches playing technique as well as music theory, but we also lean heavily on student exploration!
A good bass player is the musical leader of any ensemble (it’s not the drummer, even though they like to think so). But bass isn’t just about playing the lowest notes.
Good bass players serve the groove with intentional rhythmic placement of their notes, arpeggiation (playing the notes of a chord), and by working in tandem with the drummer to build each musical phrase.
Our instructional approach includes music theory lessons on harmony and rhythm, posture and playing technique to keep healthy hands and arms (avoiding carpel tunnel and other complications), scales, arpeggios, and everything else you need to be the cornerstone of any musical experience.

At Sing Omaha Studios, we pride ourselves on providing professional instruction in a comfortable, safe environment. We make sure that every teacher passes an annual Nebraska State Patrol background check, which helps us ensure our students’ safety and your peace of mind.

Dr. Matt Hill earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting and Pedagogy at Oklahoma State University. He is passionate about music education, and ensuring that singers of all ages learn to sing with healthy technique in whatever style or styles the student gets excited about!
He is a master vocal pedagogue, with 19 years of training as a professional singer himself. Matt personally designed Sing Omaha Studios’ curriculum, and hand-picks our teachers to ensure that our students receive the best instruction possible. Learn more>
